OVERVIEW
Climate Change and its impacts on national and regional security is becoming increasingly pertinent issue for the Australian national security community. Climate Change is one of the many threats the national security community, and indeed the whole of government, will need to address in coming years.
This Symposium aims to equip those in mid-level management positions across relevant agencies with the information and skills necessary to address this dynamic national regional security challenge. As such the Institute For Regional Security will host a two day retreat style National Security Management Symposium for approximately 40 manager currently working in key roles within this departments and agencies.
The topic for the 2019 National Security Management Symposium is
Climate Change: Impacts on National Security.
A range of carefully selected, highly qualified, speakers will provide presentations in relation to:
- Potential climate change impacts on the regional security threat environment;
- Implications this has for Defence policy and planning in our region;
- Considerations for whole-of-government security policy our region;
- The challenges of producing evidence based policy
The program format enables participants to ask questions and engage speakers in discussion following each presentation. IFRS is proud of its ability to facilitate discussions in a trusted environment. All discussions during the Symposium are conducted strictly under Chatham House Rule.
PARTICIPANTS
Mid-level managers from government departments and agencies and key stakeholder organisations.

The Symposium operates strictly under the Chatham House Rule. Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.

Cost: There are no costs to participants for this event.
Location: Gibraltar Hotel Bowral, Boronia St via Centennial Rd, Bowral. Accommodation and all meals are provided on site.
