Confirmed speakers:
Within this framework of increased radicalisation and Australia's enduring commitments in the Middle East, the national security community is working to increase understanding of the key drivers of radicalisation in Australia. This Congress will foster conversation about innovative countering violent extremism (CVE) policies and practices by exploring the unique life cycle of radicalisation in Australia and identifying potential CVE measures. It will consider Australia's strategic commitment in the Middle East. The Congress will examine three elements of the problem – the radicalisation process, the possibility for CVE and de-radicalisation (and the elements of Government policy involved in this), and the role of counter-terrorism as a practice across the whole spectrum. This Congress aims to improve our understanding of the key issues surrounding radicalisation and terrorism and evaluate Australia’s strategic interests in the Middle East. Congress participants will have the opportunity to engage with subject matter experts and constructively work towards solutions relevant to their agencies’/contexts, in particular Defence.
