On 25 June 15 the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee released its report on “Australia's Transport Energy Resilience and Sustainability.”  This issue affects us all and the Report makes three recommendations to the Australian Government.  John Blackburn was instrumental in raising the issue of transport fuel security in his ground breaking work with NRMA, which was confronting and compelling in the picture it painted.  John will reflect on the outcomes of the Senate inquiry and the potential next steps in securing Australia’s liquid fuel security.

Air Vice-Marshal John Blackburn AO (Retired).

John retired from the Royal Australian Air Force in 2008 as Deputy Chief of Air Force. He is a consultant in the fields of Defence and National Security Systems.  He is the Deputy Chairman of the Sir Richard Williams Foundations and Fellow of the Institute for Regional Security.  He holds a Masters of Arts and a Master of Defence Studies.  John has authored two Fuel security reports with the NRMA; the first, Australia’s Liquid Fuel Security in February 2013, and the second, Australia’s Liquid Fuel Security Pt 2, in February 2014.
