The Kokoda Foundation and Engineers Australia Canberra Division Presents as part of Australian Engineering Week 2014

Cyber Security: Is Your Business Ready?

***This event is full***

Abstract:

Cyber security is something that affects all Australians.  It stretches from the hip pocket of every adult Australian to the challenges of espionage and national security.  It is about crime, and threats to your commercial success.  The panel will explore concepts of cyber resilience and business continuity, highlighting what damage from a cyber attack could entail.  The threats can be unsophisticated e-mail scams to sophisticated targeted programs that can open up commercial and personal information to criminals.  So we all know there is a threat but the challenge is meeting the threats in a systematic effective manner.  Engineering and particularly the information technology arms of engineering are an integral part to combating cyber threats.  There are extraordinary innovations in hardware and software engineering occurring daily, but it is not just about technical solutions because  cyber security is also a social and legal challenge.

The panel will explore the dimensions of cyber security, with a particular emphasis on the role of business meeting cyber security challenges. Engineers Australia Canberra Division is looking to advancing cyber security in the ACT with other stakeholders and considers this seminar an important part of the engagement program.
