Mark was a Mechanical/ Aeronautical Engineer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for nearly 20 years, undertaking postings including Mirage support at RAAF Williamtown in NSW, training management at the RAAF School of Technical Training in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and engineering liaison as the Resident Engineer at the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation at Fishermens’ Bend in Victoria. He also had postings on major capital acquisition and upgrade projects in both Air Force Logistics Command, Melbourne and Materiel Division – Air Force, Canberra.
Mark joined the Commonwealth Public Service in the Department of Defence in 1994. He has held a number of appointments in the APS including Director of Australian Industry Involvement, Director of Contracting Policy, Director of Defence Electronic Procurement,Director General of Electronic Warfare and Director General of Electronic Systems Integration. In each of these positions he has made significant improvements and implement key changes to improve Defence procurement practices.
From January 2006 until January 2009, Mark was the Counsellor Defence Materiel in the Australian Embassy, located in Washington DC, in the United States.
Mark commenced his appointment as the Head of the DMO’s Industry Division from 22 September 2009. Mark has a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Business and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Computing) from Charles Sturt University. He also holds a Graduate Certifi cate in Strategic Procurement from Deakin University.
