About Us |
Our Vision We're a community of national security practitioners and researchers who help governments, business, academia, and the broader community to identify, discuss and assess the security challenges that will confront Australia and the region in the decades ahead. We are a community also dedicated to developing the next generation of advanced strategic thinkers to address these challenges. Our Mission and Means The Institute for Regional Security is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that develops and helps shape whole-of-government thinking on national security, strategy, resilience and adaptability. As a regional security think-tank, we aspire to having a fundamental role in shaping the regional security policy agenda by offering creative, practical and actionable policy solutions on tangible issues. We do this via our portfolio of programs designed to deliver Insights, Ideas, and Impact. Insights Regional engagement and understanding is our core business – and this begins by learning more about and increasing our understanding of the Indo-Pacific region. Part of our role is to create opportunities that permit governments, industry and the wider community to identify strategic blind-spots. Ideas Clear insights lead to powerful ideas for a secure and prosperous future. Impact We work within influential circles to advance our insights and ideas to ensure policy makers and national leaders are as well-equipped as possible to advance stability and prosperity across the region. We ensure they look forward and look at current decisions within the framework of future scenarios. Our wide range of programs and activities are aimed at growing insightful strategic-thinking capacity and networking in the national security community. |
